Overview

The program imparts knowledge on urban development and cooperation between the Public Sector and the Real Estate industry.

Topics

The Urban Management approach combines three levels:

  • Urban Sciences: scientifically grounded understanding of the economic, psychological, sociological, and politological contexts that shape built space.
  • Urban Governance: understanding the regulatory framework, its historical emergence, and inspiration for potential evolution to meet the challenges of spatial development.
  • Urban Leadership: understanding the motives and behaviors of individual stakeholder groups and learning concrete tools to actively initiate and shape transformation processes for cities, territories and real estate.

Target Groups

The program is aimed at specialists and managers in regional and urban development as well as the real estate industry who wish to assume increased political and entrepreneurial responsibility. These include:

  • Individuals from the fields of regional planning, politics and public administration.
  • Architecture and urban planning
  • Real estate project development
  • Real estate investment management

Admission Criteria

  • Degree from a university/ETH/university of applied sciences and professional experience (foreign degrees or professional qualifications are recognized if they have the same quality level as the Swiss equivalents).
  • Very good oral and written German skills as well as good oral English skills.
  • In exceptional cases, persons without a university degree are also admitted. The Executive Committee decides on admission "sur dossier". These applicants require several years of professional experience.
  • The number of study places is limited to a maximum of 40.

What you will learn

You are familiar with the future challenges in real estate, area and urban development.

You understand how people and companies act in space and are able to anticipate the essential reactions of voters, landowners, politics and administration to spatially relevant interventions and investments.

You are able to define development strategies, communicate in a manner appropriate to the target group, mediate between different parties, and apply and optimize the management instruments covered in the course of study in a manner appropriate to the situation.
