Session 1: Introduction to Data Science and Machine Learning – The Leverage of Data

Digital innovation is reshaping the way most industries and businesses are functioning today. Robotics, augmented/virtual reality technology, internet of things, information modeling systems, generative AI and other disruptive technologies are poised to transform industries. While data has undergone significant transformations over time from manual data processing through to IoT, cloud computing, and data science, the value of big data as a strategic asset is often lost as companies are unsure how to analyze the data, use insights for decision making, and measure the impact of data-driven outcomes. This session offers an introduction to data science, from the collection and structuring of data, to preparing it as input to automated machine learning methods, to extracting the most informative evidence to eventually come up with well-informed decision making. Particular emphasis will be on understanding the properties and use cases of different machine learning approaches for regression, classification, and clustering. All theory will be accompagnied by practical, real-world examples.

Session 2: The Fundamentals of AI

AI will fundamentally change the ways how businesses operate today. As this change progresses, organizations have a high demand for skilled professionals who understand and can help develop AI-based solutions. In this session, participants will take a hands-on approach to improve their AI competencies. They will learn to understand the fundamentals of AI methods, their use cases and limitations in business applications. Through guided python code examples, participants will get an introduction to various AI methods – from classical machine learning techniques to neural networks and large language models. They will learn to build basic systems, interpret the results, and reflect on the used-case specific suitability of methods. By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with the technical understanding to help incorporate AI systems into business processes of today and tomorrow.
